WECOME TO THE YUBA SUTTER MASTER CHORALE!
Fresh from a very successful spring concert series, the Yuba Sutter Master Chorale is gearing up for their fall and winter season. October 10th is the date for you to mark on your calendars when the Chorale presents its annual "POPS" Concert at the First Lutheran Church, located at Cooper and Forbes Avenue in Yuba City. Concert time is at 4:00 p.m. with a spaghetti dinner and raffle following the concert. Last year the "POPS" Concert was sold out, so begin making your plans now for October 10th.
The annual Christmas Concert will take place on Saturday evening, December 11th at 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church in Yuba City and Sunday, December 12th at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Marysville. The Chorale will present traditional music of the Christmas season as well as Conrad Susa's "Carols and Lullabies" for Chorus, Harp, Guitar and Marimba with dancers from Jacque's Dance Expression. The Yuba Sutter Master Chorale is a 40 voiced ensemble comprised of singers from throughout the Yuba, Sutter, Colusa and Sacramento areas. The Chorale is now in its sixth year bringing the finest in choral literature to the Yuba Sutter Community. The Chorale reflects a stunning cross section of singers including nurses, teachers, lawyers, students, governmental employees, and many other professional groups. The common thread so essential and inherent within this ensemble is the love of choral singing and the desire to express through the human voice the great choral literature from throughout the ages.
The Chorale presents three major concerts a year, a fall "POPS" concert, Christmas concert and Spring concert. Music performed includes music from the Renaissance Period through modern times. An important goal of the Master Chorale is to involve various Arts groups from throughout the community which includes dance, poets, instrumentalists, and members of the Borgamaria Lyric Opera Company. Based in Marysville, under the auspices of the Yuba Sutter Regional Arts Council, the opera company, now in its seventh season, is the Yuba Sutter area's own regional opera company.
Any person interested in singing with the Yuba Sutter Master Chorale is invited to attend rehearsals which are each Tuesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church, corner of Forbes and Cooper Streets in Yuba City. Under the direction of Joaquina Calvo Johnson, it is the cultural mission of the Chorale to continue the quest for fine Performing Arts in the Yuba Sutter Community.
